While standard Axial Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) technology is highly efficient at detecting general corrosion and large areas of metal loss, it can encounter limitations when identifying narrow cracks and anomalies oriented longitudinally or located along the longitudinal seam weld. This is where Transverse Flux Inspection (TFI) excels, by magnetizing the pipe wall in a circumferential (transverse) direction. This magnetic orientation enables highly sensitive detection of narrow axial cracks, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and seam defects.
